Meet speaker: Jean-Baptiste Galland

Jean Baptiste Galland holds degrees in mathematics and economics from Parix IX Dauphine and ENSAE. He also holds management degree from Mc-Gill.

After graduation in 1982, he joined EDF in the Strategy and Tariffs department where he held several responsibilities. He was in particular in charge of the Tariff department.

In 1990, he joined the Distribution business where he managed local distribution and commercial activities both in gas and electricity in various part of France during 10 years.

In 2000, he joined the Finance Department of EDF Group in Paris where he prepared the 2001-2003 agreement between the French state and EDF group that paved the way to the future IPO. He then became special advisor to the Chief Operating Officer in charge of EDF Group reorganisation, Upstream-Downstream optimisation initiative of EDF France and the monitoring of performance of business units (EDF trading, Distribution, West Europe Branch and Dalkia). In 2004, he was involved in the preparation of the latter successful IPO of EDF.

He joined EDF Energy in the summer 2005 as Managing Director Energy asset Optimisation within the Energy branch. He developed various investments in power (NU, 1300MW CCGT), gas (36mth fast cycle Gas storage) and renewable (300MW).
In 2008 he was appointed Chairman of EDF Energy Renewable and also director of Barking, Sutton-Bridge and Eggborough gas and coal power plants.

In 2010, he joined EDF as Deputy Director of Strategy department.

Since summer 2011 he is Director of Strategy and Smart-Grids of ERDF.
